How it works

01

Add your debts

Balance, APR, and minimum payment for each one. Takes about a minute for a typical list.

02

Compare strategies

See avalanche and snowball side by side, with the real dollar difference in your own numbers.

03

See your exact date

A real payoff month, not a vague estimate, plus what each 0% promo deadline actually costs if missed.

What's included

Snowball

Pay smallest balance first. Quick wins keep you motivated.

Avalanche

Pay highest APR first. Mathematically saves the most interest.

0% promo warnings

Get warned before a 0% deal expires and turns into a surprise interest bill.

What-if scenarios

See how many months a raise, refund, or windfall knocks off your payoff date before you spend it.

Monthly cash flow

As each debt clears, that minimum payment rolls forward into your pocket.

Mint CSV import

Reads your old Mint export directly, no retyping every account by hand.

Avalanche vs. snowball: which should you use?

Avalanche

Highest interest rate first

Usually the cheaper path overall, since less of your money goes to interest. Many people find the early progress feels slow, since the targeted balance isn't always the smallest one.

Snowball

Smallest balance first

Usually costs a little more overall. Many people find the early wins build momentum that makes the plan easier to stick with.

Neither approach is wrong. Downslope runs both against your actual numbers so you can see the real difference instead of picking blind.

Questions people ask

Is this debt payoff tracker actually free?

Yes. Adding your debts, comparing avalanche and snowball, and tracking your payoff date costs nothing and doesn't require an account. Pro adds a few extras like what-if scenarios and CSV export, but the core tracker stays free for as long as you use it.

Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. You type in your balances, rates, and minimum payments yourself. Nothing connects to your bank, and nothing leaves your device.

Avalanche or snowball, which one should I use?

Avalanche (highest interest rate first) usually saves more money. Snowball (smallest balance first) usually feels more motivating early on. Downslope shows both side by side so you can see the actual difference in your own numbers, not just the general rule.

Can I import my debts from Mint?

Yes. Export your Mint CSV and use the Import from Mint button above, your accounts load in seconds, then you just add current balances and rates.

No account required. Open it and start in seconds.

No bank connections. Your data never leaves your device. Pro unlocks the AI game plan and advanced scenarios.
